I completed my clinical rotations in various places across the west coast in multiple different settings.

R1: Fyzical Therapy & Balance 

Clinical Setting: Outpatient Neurovestibular 

Location: Las Vegas, NV

Clinical Instructor: Dr. Alicia Letkiewicz 

Population: Patient population consisted of mostly older adults presenting w/ balance issues and vertigo. Younger and middle aged patients were seen as well for orthopedic issues. BPPV and UVH were primarily the main diagnoses encountered.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Bedside testing for UVH
  • Dix-Halpike testing 
  • Repositioning maneuvers for BPPV
  • Documentation w/ Prompt 
  • Examination & intervention skills, especially w/ vestibular cases
  • Balance assessment and training
  • Usage of overhead harness
  • Understanding of balance (frequent patient education on how visual, somatosensory, and vestibular work together to help us balance)

R2: Windsor Terrace Post Acute

Clinical Setting: Skilled Nursing Facility

Location: Van Nuys, CA

Clinical Instructor: Dr. Mary Joan Jugo 

Population: Patient population consisted mainly of geriatrics either in need of care for chronic health conditions or post surgical recovery. Post stroke, alzheimer's, and dementia patients were often encountered along w/ hip and knee replacement patients.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Geriatric patient care
  • Post acute care
  • Knowledge of post surgical precautions 
  • Catheter and G Tube management
  • Documentation with Health Net
  • Interdisciplinary work w/ nurses, speech therapists, occupational therapists, and respiratory therapists
  • Proper guarding of high fall risk patients 
  • Gait assessment and training 
  • Transfer assessment and training

R3: Pro Sport

Clinical Settings: Outpatient Orthopedics

Location: Gig Harbor, WA

Clinical Instructor: Dr. Michael Rosendahl

Population: Patient population consisted of all ages and lifestyles from older adults dealing w/ osteoarthritis and overall weakness to young high school/collegiate athletes rehabbing from a major surgery and everything in between. One of my most memorable injuries I worked with here was rehabbing a hamstring rupture of a 14 year old football player.

  • Special skills and clinical testing
  • Orthopedic diagnoses and treatment
  • Shadowed dry needling on a consistent basis
  • Further developed examination and intervention skills

  • Establishment of patient rapport
